The Marble Falls High School football program has a new offensive coordinator.

He is Logan Simmons, who was previously at Academy and Lampasas high schools.

“He’ll help me with the calls and the game plans,” head coach Keri Timmerman said.

The Mustangs run Timmerman’s version of the spread offense.

While Marble Falls is the first school district the two have worked together in, they have worked at the same football camps for close to a decade. They share the same philosophy, have the same common beliefs, and believe the foundation for success starts at the same place.

“It’s always about building relationships,” Timmerman said.

Timmerman called Simmons “a big asset.”

In addition to being the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Academy, Simmons was the golf head coach.

He is married to Sara and the couple have three children: Crosby, Camryn and Carsyn. Simmons also is an ordained minister.

Simmons joins a program whose offense had 246 carries for 940 yards and 15 touchdowns, averaging 3.8 yards per carry, and completed 110 out of 192 passes for 1,340 yards with a 12.2 average. The Mustangs scored 11 touchdowns and had three interceptions.

The program’s top rusher, rising senior Joaquin Aguilar, is coming back. He has been a two-year starter. Last year, he had 103 carries for 589 yards and eight touchdowns and 12 catches for 175 yards and two scores. Rising senior fullback Doak Timmerman also is returning. He had 44 carries for 116 yards and five touchdowns.

Rising senior Kaden Langbein had eight catches for 108 yards and a score.

Currently the Mustangs are on the hunt for a new starting quarterback. Rising junior Atreyu Machacek and rising sophomores Anderson Liscum and Crawford Mattox are vying for the job.

Lance Burns was the program’s passing coordinator last year. He is returning to Magnolia because his wife, who is a nurse, accepted a job there.
