The Faith Academy of Marble Falls volleyball team is putting in the work now for the 2025 season.

The Lady Flames, who are a Class 3A state semifinalist of the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools, are playing in the Llano May League that’s each Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. Faith plays Llano and Marble Falls. Each squad gets two matches with a running clock of about 30 minutes.

Head coach Erin Sawyer left encouraged by what she saw particularly because her rising seniors weren’t in attendance. Therefore the underclassmen took the court and held their own, she said.

“I’m really excited to see the kids work,” she said. “I’m excited to see the communication. Our returning varsity players played well. Chemistry is a work in progress.”

Defensively, players must commit to never letting the ball hit the floor. That means they must hit the floor first. Sawyer pointed out the Lady Flames are doing that more, a sign of feeling more confident.

“They’re willing to go for balls they didn’t think they could get,” she said. “I see the small glimpses.”

She was thrilled to see rising sophomore middle blocker Elizabeth Neely’s work on the court as she moved and adjusted.

“I like where she’s at,” the coach said.

The other encouraging part? Some of the Lady Flames also play for the Highland Lakes Aces, the club program Sawyer started years ago.

“Two played for the Aces with me this season and over half were Aces players,” she said. “They showed their willingness and dedication to work hard and get better.”
