Marble Falls Independent School District athletic director and football head coach Keri Timmerman is a finalist for the Game-Changing Coach Award.
He is one of 60 on the list. The award will be presented by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football and “highlights coaches who go the extra mile in developing young men on and off the field,” according to reports.
Timmerman said Texas Football representatives contacted him a couple of weeks ago to tell him of his selection.
“I was really surprised, really humbled and flattered,” he said. “I know a lot of those guys (on the list) and think highly of them and their programs. I’m grateful.”
The other finalists represent school districts in different classifications. Each coach has contributed to the profession, to his community and to his school district in many ways. They include Boerne Champion’s Blane Ellis, Lake Belton’s Brian Cope, Cuero’s Jerod Fikac, Comanche’s Joaquin Escobar, Austin Travis’ Joe Frank Martinez, Bandera’s Joel Fontenot-Amedee, Ingram Tom Moore’s Tate DeMasco, China Spring’s Tyler Beatty and Stephenville’s Sterling Doty.
“It’s a prestigious list,” assistant athletic director John Berkman said. “You’re on a list with a lot of well-known people. I think that’s important. It gives a little bit of notoriety to our school district as well.”
Dr. Jeff Gasaway, Marble Falls Independent School District superintendent, said Timmerman’s selection “speaks volumes.”
“From the day that Coach Timmerman joined Marble Falls ISD, he has led with heart, humility and a deep commitment to building community,” Gasaway said. “I see him not just focused on that community within athletics, but it extends across our entire district. Having coach Timmerman included on a list like this affirms what I already know: Keri is not only an outstanding coach and athletic director, but he’s a servant leader who makes a real difference in the lives of students, families and fellow educators. It’s a well-deserved recognition.”
Timmerman is known for filling the gaps where he is needed. When he began working for the school district in January 2024, he and his wife, Natalie, were often working the concession stand for the home soccer matches. He has been a bus driver for students participating in extra-curricular activities and has attended other events showcasing his athletes’ talents in other areas.
In addition, Timmerman made himself available to speak about the challenges the athletic department and extra curricular activities faced when it came to facilities before residents could vote on the May 2025 bond. He is known as someone who chooses to roll up his sleeves and come up with solutions that meet the needs of students across the school district.
Based on the athletic director’s actions, Gasaway said he wasn’t surprised they have caught the attention of a state-wide media company.
“I’m not surprised at all because this is who coach Timmerman is every day,” he said. “Since day one, he has been approachable and available to students, parents and staff. I see him being very intentional with his positive connections with parents, staff, and most importantly, our students. He works hard to ensure our student-athletes are supported on and off the field. He works with our students by encouraging them to be involved in everything they’re passionate about. Keri is consistent, steady and genuinely invested in doing what’s best for students. That kind of leadership stands out.”
Timmerman’s peers at neighboring school districts have noted the alignment they see inside the Marble Falls Independent School District athletic department and credit its leader for that.
The superintendent does, too.
“Coach Timmerman continues each day to bring a spirit of unity to our programs,” Gasaway said. “Through his leadership in athletics, he has helped cultivate a sense of pride across our district. Whether it’s collaborating with teachers, supporting fine arts or showing up to community events, he’s all in. He models what it means to be a positive influence and a true team player. As a district, we are proud of him and feel extremely blessed to have him in Marble Falls ISD.”
A voting contest will begin once each coach is recognized.
