The Faith Academy of Marble Falls football team beat Medina 76-55 Oct. 3.
It was Medina’s (5-1) first loss of the season.
“We kept grinding,” head coach Jay Silvers said. “Speed kills. We kept running at them. Offensively, we had to grind. We kept working on them and working on them.”
The first half revealed two evenly matched teams. They answered each other’s scores until late in the second quarter.
Faith had a turnover and Medina capitalized. But it left the Flames about 50 seconds in the quarter, enough time to get the score back and take a two-point lead at the half.
Medina fumbled the opening drive to begin the third quarter.
“We scored on that,” Silvers said. “They were fighting for it and the defense did a great job.”
Faith simply kept adding to the lead throughout the second half.
The coach believes one big difference between the two teams determined the outcome.
“The guys playing two ways,” he said. “I think that’s what helped us. We were still fresh and pretty good.”
The Faith offense was led by a group of playmakers.
