A battle of undefeated rivals will happen on Britton Field when Fredericksburg Heritage comes to play Faith Academy of Marble Falls. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12.

Both football teams enter the contest with 2-0 records.

Heritage mercy-ruled San Marcos Academy, which is in the same District 4 of Division II of the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools with Faith, by leading 21-6 after the first quarter and then scoring the necessary points in the second to end the game at the half.

“Their coach (Tim Shipman) does a great job,” Faith head coach Jay Silvers said. “They have a well oiled machine. He gets them going in the right direction. We’re definitely going to have our hands full with them. He does an amazing job.”

Offensively, Heritage has three in the backfield to form a “diamond set.” In six-man football every offensive player is an eligible receiver. The Eagles like to run sweeps and draws, Silvers said.

“They’re a little bit bigger than ours on the front line,” he said. “It’ll be speed versus size. They have some guys with wheels.”

Where the Flames have been great is in solo tackles and creating turnovers. That will be two big defensive keys, Silvers said.

Offensively, Faith has scored 52 points against Sugar Land Logos Prep Aug. 28 and 83 in two quarters against Austin Valor North.

They’ve done that by relying heavily on senior Andrew Houy and sophomore Landon Silvers.

Against Valor, Houy had 3 rushes for 9 yards and a score and completed both of his passes for 27 yards and two touchdowns and had an 80-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, while Landon Silvers had 4 rushes for 62 yards and two touchdowns and completed 4 of 4 passes for 119 yards and two scores.

Junior Wade Dillard had a six-yard rushing touchdown. Zarob had two receptions for 54 yards and a score, sophomore Madden Kinnee caught a 59-yard passing touchdown, sophomore McGraw had a 20-yard touchdown reception, and Sawyer Jones had a seven-yard touchdown catch. In all the Flames had 223 yards of total offense.

The lopsided lead allowed Silvers and defensive coordinator Garrett Cole to substitute freely with reserves taking over in the second quarter.

Against Logos Prep, the Flames overcame a 37-24 deficit in the second half to outscore the Lions 28-0.

Houy finished with 108 rushing yards and four touchdowns and completed 5 of 6 passes for 90 yards and two touchdowns. Senior Adam Merlick caught two passes for 55 yards and two scores. Sophomore Landon Silvers had 113 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Defensively, junior Price Rosamond had seven tackles, while Houy had five and an interception, Quinton Merlick had four tackles and a fumble recovery.
