Llano football travels to Comfort

The Llano High School football team will go to Comfort to face the Bobcats at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26.

The Yellow Jackets (3-1) are looking to get back on track after losing to Jarrell last week 40-29, while the Bobcats (4-0) want to keeping adding to the win column.

“Our kids hate to lose more than they like to win,” Llano head coach Matt Green said. “Our practice (Sept. 22) was really good. The loss exposed things we need to get better at.”   

Llano will face a Comfort team that is averaging 294 passing yards and 364 rushing yards per contest thanks to operating the Slot-T and spread offenses.

“They’re playing with a lot of confidence,” Green said. “They don’t sub. They make it difficult because you can’t personnel them. You have to prepare for both.”

The Bobcats are led by junior quarterback Omar Rivera, who is in his second year on the varsity. He has completed 18 of 43 passes for 337 yards and four touchdowns and has 42 carries for 324 yards and three scores.  

Senior running back Hunter Ledlow, a two-year letterman, has 120 carries for 791 yards and 11 touchdowns and four receptions for 146 yards and a score. Senior quarterback Carter Pape has 118 carries for 708 yards and seven touchdowns and two catches for 24 yards.

The Llano defense is led by senior linebacker Isaiah Aguilar, who has 23 tackles and two fumble recoveries, junior linebacker Cody Greenwood, who has 20 tackles, three quarterback hurries and caused a fumble, and senior safety Grayson Lilie, who has 19 tackles and a pass deflection. As a unit, Llano has caught five interceptions, recovered five fumbles and has 11 quarterback hurries.

The Comfort defense is led by senior linebacker Damian Neri, who has 43 tackles and caused a fumble, junior Cole Young, who 39 tackles, and junior linebacker Gabriel Gonzalez, who has 26 tackles and caused a fumble.

Llano will counter with junior quarterback Luke Davis, a three-year starter, who has completed 305 of 499 passes for 4,073 yards, 53 touchdowns and 19 interceptions and has 190 carries for 963 yards and nine scores.

Senior running back Jose Sillas has 39 carries for 233 yards and six touchdowns and has six catches for 47 yards. Senior running back Brayton Shaw has 30 carries for 213 yards and a touchdown and two receptions for 19 yards. Senior running back River Thomison has 17 rushes for 168 yards.

Junior receiver Cash Lynch has 22 receptions for 432 yards and six scores, senior receiver Graham Prokop has 13 catches for 206 yards and four touchdowns, and senior running back Brady Kelly has eight catches for 185 yards and four touchdowns.

Comfort junior kick returner Jared Valadez averages 34.3 yards per game.

“It’s a very good football team,” Green said of Comfort. “(This will) make us tough. It will be a challenge.”
