The Marble Falls Independent School District football program has its offensive coordinator.

He is Kyle Farrell, who was at Pflugerville Connally the last three years as the offensive line and powerlifting head coach. Mustangs head coach Keri Timmerman announced the hire July 2.

Before that, Farrell was at De Soto where he was on the football staff during the team’s 15-0 record that ended with the Class 6A Division II state title.

“He has championship experience,” head coach Keri Timmerman said. “Being with Todd Peterman at De Soto and the success they’ve had, and so that’s always something if you can ever bring that in with coaches who understand what it looks like to be successful and what it takes at any level in high school football. That’s an additive that you just can’t really create. You have to have the opportunity to be there and be a part of it and see what it looks like.”

Farrell also will coach the offensive line after Humberto Garza retired at the end of the 2025-26 school year.

“He wants to run the ball and do it well,” Timmerman said. “And he wants to establish that kind of level of discipline and ownership in our own group and a brotherhood in that group. That excited me just because that’s something that we’ve really harped on here is how do we create some big, nasty guys that really want to just go dominate up front? I think that was a big part of it, too.”

Wanting to hire coaches who worked at state championship programs may have been on Timmerman’s list of what he wanted in an offensive coordinator, but the head coach noted it wasn’t the only item.

“He spent a lot of time with a lot of successful programs, and I think that was a big thing,” he said. “But also just (being) like-minded as far as what do we want to do offensively and how do we want to identify ourselves and what does that look like? Everybody has different opinions. We both think the same way as far as what’s the most important thing that we develop in our team offensively? Are you going to be a true spread team or are you going to be a 12 personnel (one running back and two tight ends) or a 21 personnel (two running backs, one tight end and two wide receivers) team? Are you going to be a mix of both? What is your identity going to look like? And so I think that you just have to have people that are like-minded before you can really get down to who you are as a team. And so (Farrell) just really fit that for me.”

Others joining the athletic department are Cody Taylor as the new cross country and girls track and field head coach, Mackenzie Lyon as an athletic trainer, Brent Parker as the middle school boys athletic coordinator, and Tatianna Mack and Rolando Benevides as middle school coaches.
