The Burnet High School cross country program competed at the Cedar Park Vista Ridge Invitational Aug. 22. The Bulldogs took fourth overall with 96 points thanks to a cumulative time of 1 hour and 35.08 seconds with each runner clocking 18:56. “We’re just deep in that area,” head coach Simon Hairston said. “We continue to showcase that we do have depth, we’re able to score points. The Lady Dawgs (10-3) went 3-1 at the Gatesville Tournament Aug. 21 and 23 thanks to decisive victories against the Lady Hornets 2-0, Cameron Yoe 25-9, 25-14 and Killeen High 25-23, 25-19. Gates open at 7:30 a.m. Battle of the Hills, which is sponsored by Burnet Youth Football and Cheer, allows teams from Blanco, Boerne, Burnet, Fredericksburg, Lago Vista, Lampasas and Marble Falls to scrimmage one another before the season kicks off in a couple of weeks.
