The Burnet High School boys soccer team defeated Florence 12-2 Jan. 23 after tying Austin Eastside Memorial 2-2 Jan. 17. In the regular season finale against Florence, Burnet prevailed 2-1. “Last year the Buffalos were making strides during the season,” head coach Benjamin Boorman said. The Burnet High School boys soccer team beat Austin Travis 1-0 in the District 25-4A opener Jan. 14. The lone goal was scored by Genesis Ceron on a deflection on the Bulldogs’ first free kick of the night. Head coach Benjamin Boorman indicated the Bulldogs had numerous opportunities to add more. “We had so many chances,” he said. The victory puts the Lady Dawgs (12-14, 3-1) in a three-way tie for first in District 24-4A with Salado (16-11, 3-1) and the Lady Cougars (22-6, 3-1).
