The Faith Academy of Marble Falls softball team began the 2022 season with an 18-10 loss to Concordia Christian School on March 7. The Lady Flames (0-1) committed seven errors in the contest. Burnet High School sophomore Abby Smith qualified for the Class 4A Division I powerlifting state meet after finishing third overall in the 114-pound division at regionals on March 4. Smith lifted a total of 635 pounds thanks to squatting 254 pounds, bench-pressing 145 pounds, and dead-lifting 250 pounds. Sam Pearce, executive director of The Helping Center, was in a bind. He had a “big warehouse” truck carrying numerous pallets averaging 1,500 pounds of food apiece and didn’t have enough volunteers to empty the vehicle. In all, it totaled 30,000 pounds of food.
