The Highland Lakes has several talented softball players who are on the Texas Girls Coaches Association all-state teams or are chosen to compete in the organization’s all-star game. Burnet graduate Savannah Gomez was named to the Class 4A all-state team. Gomez along with fellow graduates Katie Barnett, Yareli Vega and Rylea Whitus were named academic all-state, Llano juniors Gwyn Burnett and Skylar Brown were named to the Class 3A all-state team, while senior pitcher Madison Kloepper will play in the TCGA all-star game July 12 in Arlington. Llano’s Golemon is inducted into CCCAT’s Hall of Fame

Steve Golemon’s contributions to Texas high school sports are numerous, and organizations are making sure they aren’t quickly forgotten. The Llano High School cross country head coach and middle-distance track coach, who died Oct. 19, 2021, was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Cross Country Coaches Association of Texas June 11. The Marble Falls High School volleyball program is continuing to host weekly matches at Marble Falls Middle School with the only changes are on the day of the week and the addition of other teams.
