Next Level Elite wins LoneStar Championship tournament

The Next Level Elite girls basketball team, consisting of high school athletes in the Highland Lakes, won the LoneStar Championship tournament April 22-24 at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, in Arlington. Next Level Elite defeated Proskills Houston 16U 54-41 April 24, the Arkansas Lady Rebels 37-9 and Oklahoma Aces 49-42 both on April 23, and Oklahoma Swarm 16U 44-42 April 22. MFalls golfers battle Mother Nature during regional tourneys

The golf season for Marble Falls High School ended at the Class 5A Region IV tournament April 18-21. Maddie DeBerard finished 15th in the girls division thanks to scoring 80-83–163, good enough for all-region honorable mention. Blake Turner shot an 83-76–159 to finish tied for 24th in the boys division, while teammate Coby Holley had an 86-82–168 to tie for 43rd. Five Marble Falls High School athletes competing at the District 25 and 26-5A area meet Wednesday, April 20, enjoyed one more practice on a cool and windy afternoon at Mustang Stadium April 19. Lady Dawg returns to Class 4A powerlifting state meet

Burnet High School sophomore Abby Smith qualified for the Class 4A Division I powerlifting state meet after finishing third overall in the 114-pound division at regionals on March 4. Smith lifted a total of 635 pounds thanks to squatting 254 pounds, bench-pressing 145 pounds, and dead-lifting 250 pounds. She set new personal bests in the deadlift, the bench press and in the overall total. The state is divided into eight regions. The top two lifters in each region automatically qualify.
