Marble Falls strength and conditioning draws a good number of athletes on first day

The Marble Falls Independent School District athletics department began its summer strength-and-program June 13, and coaches were content with the number of athletes who showed up for the voluntary sessions. Fifty-five high school boys and 40 seventh- and eighth-graders worked out. The Lady Mustangs had about 38 representing grades 7-12. The program for all athletes is under the direction of strength-and-conditioning coach Richard Scales. Marble Falls soccer hosts weekly 7-on-7 matches on Tuesdays

Another sport is enjoying the benefits of 7-on-7, and soccer fans don’t have to travel far to witness it. Each Tuesday at 5 p.m. throughout the month of June, area high school players are stopping at Mustang Stadium, 2101 Mustang Drive in Marble Falls, for a night of co-ed soccer where each team must have four girls on the field at all times. Llano and Marble Falls athletes are mentally preparing for the voluntary sessions of summer strength and conditioning that begin Monday, June 13. Burnet and Faith Academy of Marble Falls began last week, while Smoking for Jesus School Ministry started May 31. Marble Falls High School senior Reese Moomaw will become a member of the Dallas Christian women’s soccer team after signing her National Letter of Intent during a ceremony May 19 at Marble Falls High School. Segovia earns the wild card to pole vault at the state meet

Marble Falls pole vaulter Django Segovia will compete at the Class 5A state track meet after earning the wild card, which means he had the best vault among the four regional bronze medalists. He cleared 15 feet on his second attempt. The state track meet is Friday, May 13, at Mike Myers Stadium on the University of Texas campus, 707 Clyde Littlefield Drive in Austin.
