Next Level caps busy month with tournament victories

Three Next Level basketball teams performed well in tournaments against some great opponents that traveled from across the state and country. Next Level’s 17-and-under girls team went 1-2 at the Foreverland Tournament June 18-19, while the 15-and-under team finished third in its division at the same event with a 2-1 record. The 17-and-under team defeated Nike Pro Skills Roberts 55-32 but lost to Texas Lone Star Gold Dallas 46-42 and to Texas Elite Premier, the host, 46-37. Next Level to play in two top tournaments over the weekend

The Next Level girl basketball program has several tournaments scheduled for the next few weeks. Top of the list is the Foreverland Invitational in Mansfield June 18-19 that will draw two Next Level squads. Lampasas basketball league welcomes new district foes Burnet, Marble Falls, Lago Vista

Though basketball season doesn’t tip off until November, area players aren’t waiting for the beginning of the 2022-23 school year to hit the hardwood thanks to the start of the Lampasas summer basketball league, which begins Monday, June 6. The girls play on Monday evenings, while the boys play on Tuesday nights. Teams committed to playing include Burnet, Evant, Hamilton, Lago Vista, Lampasas, Lometa, Marble Falls and San Saba. Lady Dawgs earn another tough district road victory

The Burnet High School girls soccer team’s business-like approach resulted in another big road win March 8. The Lady Dawgs (15-6-3, 11-3 District 18-4A) beat Lampasas 3-0 and put themselves in position to finish second in the district standings if they can beat Salado in the regular season finale on Monday, March 14.
