Community-loved MFISD athletics facilities to receive improvements

A new track at Marble Falls Middle School’s Pony Stadium and resurfacing of the courts at the Charlie and Nancy Herrington Tennis Center at Marble Falls High School means those facilities won’t be available to the public for a few weeks. The Marble Falls High School baseball team earned its first win of the District 25-5A season, a 9-8 walk-off victory in the ninth inning against Georgetown East View April 1. A.J. Track and field enthusiasts will gather at Bunet’s Bulldog Field to cheer on the area’s best athletes in that sport on Thursday, March 24. The meet begins at noon at Bulldog Field, 1400 Bulldog Stadium Drive. The meet will draw teams from Marble Falls and Copperas Cove and from Burnet’s 19-4A district: Lake Belton, Lampasas, Salado and Taylor. Five Marble Falls High School cheerleaders were named to the all-state team of the Texas Girls Coaches Association recently, while seven seniors made the academic all-state team. Marble Falls High School senior Jon “Gouda” Zamarippa has committed to play baseball for Coastal Bend College and will sign his National Letter of Intent in a few weeks. Burnet and Marble Falls high school track and field athletes competed in the Salado meet March 11 before leaving for Spring Break. In the boys varsity team standings, Burnet finished second with 101 points, while Marble Falls was fifth with 71 points. Burnet was third in the boys junior varsity team standings with 127 points followed by Marble Falls with 101 points. It took two extra innings for the winner to be decided between the Marble Falls High School baseball team and Cedar Park March 16.
