Down 6-0 in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Lady Dawgs set their minds on a comeback.

After one out, Elyse De Arcos singled, Lexie Leatherwood was hit by a pitch, and Presely Crawford drew a walk.

With two outs, lead-off batter Journey Denton hit a 2 RBI double to deep center field. A throwing error allowed McKenzie Davis to reach base and sent Crawford and Denton home. Maddi Moise drew a walk.

The game ended on a strikeout.

The Panthers, who are the two-time defending Class 4A state champions, scored four runs in the first inning behind a two-run homer by Kylee Bishop.

Liberty added another run, which was unearned, in the second inning. At least four runs were scored after two outs.

Alexandria Wiley led off the seventh inning with a solo home run.

In all, Liberty had 10 hits.

Sophomore pitcher Brookelyn Taylor started in the circle and threw for six innings before the reliever took over. But with the bases loaded, Taylor went back to the circle to close out the contest. Taylor struck out 10 in 6 1/3 innings.
