The Faith Academy of Marble Falls volleyball team beat Waco Reicher 25-14, 25-12, 25-13 Oct. 12 to set up a showdown for the fourth playoff berth out of District 3-3A of the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools.

The Lady Flames (4-7) welcome Waco Live Oak at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, to The Fire Pit.

A win against Live Oak will tie the two squads for fourth place and set up a play-in match for the final playoff spot that will be played soon after.

“I definitely think we’ve grown,” head coach Erin Sawyer said. “We’re adapting as a team and know what’s needed and what’s at stake. This is a big match. If we want to go to the playoffs, we have to win Tuesday and then win again. I’m proud of my girls for how they’re changing and how they’re playing.”

As for the victory against Reicher, which gives Faith the season sweep of the opponent, Sawyer commended her players for having a business-like attitude they started with the home win against Temple Holy Trinity Oct. 10 in straight sets.

“We won pretty handily,” she said of the win against Reicher. “I had a couple of players who were out with illness. We were completely focused, and we took it one game at a time.”

Senior Brooke Farmer led with six kills followed by senior Kaytlyn Wood and junior Hadley Shipley with five apiece. Wood also led with four aces, while Farmer had the team’s only block. Hadley had eight assists, and senior Carleigh Henderson had 10 digs, while Wood had eight and Shipley had seven.

The seniors set the tone with their play, the coach said, noting five of them started again.

“The seniors provide a lot,” Sawyer said. “It’s a great group. I was able to play all five seniors all three games. I wanted them to play well and do well.”
