The Marble Falls High School boys basketball team released its list of players chosen for the All-District 24-4A teams.

Senior forward Davis Dreisbach and junior guard Tidus Willie were named to the first team.

“Tidus had a fantastic district season for us. He’s our leader in so many ways,” head coach Travis Crain said. “Davis battled through injuries. He had some big performances.”

Crain pointed to the duo’s biggest contribution in the same game during the district campaign: the 79-67 victory against Georgetown Gateway Jan. 19. Willie dropped in 38 points, while Davis added 26.

“That was on top of the other strong team performances,” Crain said. “For them to be recognized by our district coaches is a big deal.”

Junior forward Garen Jones and senior guard Kody Smith are on the second team.

Jones is known for coming through with clutch buckets in what looks like impossible plays. He is fearless in driving to the basket to draw fouls while still looking to complete the shot for a 3-point play.

Smith was the Mustangs’ long bomb specialist, unafraid to lurk around the 3-point line and launch at any given moment throughout the contest.

“Both had highlight moments throughout the year,” the coach said. “I’m really proud of them.”

Junior athlete Jaime Castillo and senior center Cooper Cochran are honorable mention.

Castillo was a three-year letterman, often asked to use his bulky frame to go toe to toe with forwards on the other team. Cochran was matched up with the opponents’ tallest players and asked to protect the basket all over the lane.

“Jaime is just a heck of an athlete,” Crain said. “Cooper had his best year this year as a senior. I’m proud of the journey he went on. I’m proud of all of them.”

Ten Mustangs were named academic all-district, which also pleased the coach.

“I’m proud of our kids for their work in the classroom, too,” he said. “They handled their business.”
