Burnet, Llano planning to win 7-on-7 tournament bid

One automatic bid to the 7-on-7 Division II state tournament is up for grabs at the Burnet State Qualifying tournament Saturday, May 28, and the Bulldogs and Llano are aiming to win it. Standing in the way are six other squads with the same intention. The tournament begins at 9 a.m. at Bulldog Field, 1400 Bulldog Stadium Drive. Long-time athletics director and coach Russell Roberts is donning the red and black of the Smoking For Jesus Ministry School Eagles. Roberts, who is most familiar to Highland Lakes sports fans as the football and boys track and field coach at Faith Academy, decided to become part of Eagles head coach Charles Frazier Sr.’s staff in early April. Defenses shine in final night of Burnet-Llano 7-on-7 series

The Burnet and Llano football programs played their final May evening of 7-on-7 on May 23 highlighted by the defenses. While balls were overthrown, underthrown and dropped by both varsity teams, the defenses had their share of batted down passes, knockaways and interceptions. Marble Falls High School senior Reese Moomaw will become a member of the Dallas Christian women’s soccer team after signing her National Letter of Intent during a ceremony May 19 at Marble Falls High School. Faith Academy athletics adds more milestones to banners

Saying the Faith Academy of Marble Falls athletics department experienced a banner year in 2021-22 doesn’t begin to describe the success. The Flames were undefeated in district play en route to titles in football, basketball, baseball and track and field. They repeated as the Class 2A state track and field champions. Smoking for Jesus sports department shifts leagues

The Smoking for Jesus Minstry School’s athletics department has changed high school leagues. The private school moved to the Texas Association of Independent Athletic Organizations, which happened after the basketball season ended. The department was previously a member of the Texas Christian Athletic League where the Eagles had tremendous success. The football team reached the league’s six-man state championship game in 2019, 2020 and 2021 and won back-to-back titles in 2020 and 2021. The Marble Falls Middle School boys soccer team ended its season with an 8-0 rout of Liberty Hill Santa Rita May 17 to go unbeaten during the 2022 season for a 6-0 record.
