Burnet High School 2022 graduate Ralston Vance will represent the Bulldogs at the annual Austin Area Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Game at 6 p.m. Sunday, June 12, at Dell Diamond, 3400 E. Palm Valley in Round Rock. Vance, who played different positions for the Bulldogs, was selected as a second baseman. The all-stars are those who graduated in 2022. The Smoking For Jesus Ministry School football team’s 6-on-6 squad is preparing for the first of three opportunities to face other competition. First up is Ball County Angels, a team from Temple, traveling to play the Eagles at their home venue on the Smoking For Jesus campus, RR 2342 in Burnet. Though basketball season doesn’t tip off until November, area players aren’t waiting for the beginning of the 2022-23 school year to hit the hardwood thanks to the start of the Lampasas summer basketball league, which begins Monday, June 6. The 2022 Burnet High School football coaching staff will have some new faces after familiar coaches left to climb the coaching ladder. Two new hires at Burnet are Colton Brewer, who will be the quarterbacks coach, and Trevor Couch, who will be the receivers coach. District 19-4A coaches selected several Burnet High School softball players to all-district teams, Lady Dawgs head coach Hailey Wooten announced. First team all-district Lady Dawgs are Savannah Gomez, McKenzie Davis and Lanee McCurry. The Llano High School 7-on-7 team posted a 2-1 record at the Burnet state qualifying tournament May 28. The Yellow Jackets defeated Brownwood 12-6 and Somerset 15-13 before losing to Lorena 19-6.
