Several Burnet baseball players named to all-district teams

The Burnet High School baseball team’s outstanding 2022 season was applauded by the other District 19-4A coaches when the all-district list was released May 16. Four Bulldogs were named first team all-district. They are third baseman Dash Denton, catcher Tanner O’Hair, utility player Ralston Vance, and pitcher Clayton Zinz. Marble Falls senior pole vaulter Django Segovia wrapped up his season with a ninth-place finish at the Class 5A state meet May 13. Segovia missed clearing 15 feet and cleared 14-6 on his third attempt and 14-0 on his first try while competing at Mike Myers Stadium on the University of Texas at Austin campus. One second separated Burnet junior middle-distance runner Hudson Bennett and Fort Worth Diamond Hill-Jarvis sophomore Angel Sanchez in the 1,600 meters of the Class 4A state meet of the University Interscholastic League May 12. Sanchez, who lost to Bennett by almost two seconds in the 3,200 meters at the state meet the morning of May 12, wouldn’t be denied a second time. Llano sophomore Gwyn Burnett is leaving the Class 3A state meet of the University Interscholastic League with a medal. The Lady Jacket clocked 44.54 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles for the silver medal. After going unbeaten during the district season and capturing the program’s first district title, coaches honored the Faith Academy of Marble Falls baseball players by naming two as the district co-most valuable players and other starters to the first and second teams. Burnet’s Bennett repeats as 3,200-meter state champion

Burnet junior middle-distance runner Hudson Bennett showed once more why he is the best two-mile runner in Class 4A. The defending state champion earned another state gold medal at the Class 4A state meet May 12 to go with his 2021 gold medal. He completed eight laps in 9 minutes 22.86 seconds to break the school record by 10 seconds and set a new personal best.
