The Burnet High School football team is looking to bounce back from its first loss of the season when the Bulldogs welcome Brownwood.

That game kicks off at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, at Bulldog Field, 1400 Bulldog Stadium Drive.

Burnet is hosting a confident Lion team that beat the Marble Falls Mustangs 55-16 Sept. 2.

Brownwood runs a spread offense led by junior dual-threat quarterback Ike Hall. He lines up in the shot gun and uses the zone read to determine if he’ll hand the ball off or keep it. He can also throw on the run.

Against Marble Falls, Hall completed 7 of 9 passes for 145 yards and had 9 rushes for 65 yards and a touchdown.

Senior running back Konlyn Anderson was the offensive leader, rushing for 73 yards on 16 carries and 3 touchdowns. Junior running back Logan McKibben had 7 rushes for 49 yards and 2 scores.

Senior receiver Thad Hinds caught three passes for 76 yards.

Meanwhile, the Lions limited Marble Falls’ slot-T offense to 188 yards on 50 carries.

Burnet will counter with its version of the spread offense led by senior quarterback Tanner O’Hair who has completed 25 of 48 passes for 390 yards, 6 touchdowns and 2 interceptions and has 11 carries for 16 yards. Senior running back Jose Rodriguez leads in rushing with 40 carries for 174 yards. Junior receiver Grant Jones has 9 catches for 135 yards and 2 touchdowns and senior receiver Braden Ellet-Clark has 7 receptions for 114 yards and a score.

The Bulldog defense has given up an average of 412 yards of total offense, stifling passing games to fewer than 150 yards per contest.

Burnet is celebrating homecoming against Brownwood.
