The Burnet Consolidated Independent School District’s football program has a new offensive line coach.
He is Bronson Wire, who is coming from Carrollton Creekview where he had the same position.
“He has some great experience with some coaches and also experience at the next level coaching being a student assistant, so real excited about him,” Bulldogs head coach Ben Speer said.
Wire, who is originally from Belleville, Wisconsin, spent two years at Creekview. Before that he worked at the Ector Independent School District .
“He loves the area,” Speer said. “He’s just excited about getting out of the Dallas-Fort Worth area and getting back to a small town. He drove in and it just reminded him of home, and so we’re excited to get him here.”
Wire has met new offensive coordinator Tyler Fambrough, and Speer said the two see eye to eye on philosophy, teaching, terminology and the different nuances with the offensive line and the offensive room.
“I think the best thing about that is they just clicked right away,” the head coach said. “They hit it off really well. They’ve done several things and putting things together in preparation for this summer and fall camp. And that’s so important when those guys mesh – your coordinator and your offensive line coach because man, it’s probably one of the most important hires you make is the offensive line coach. It’s the heart and the heartbeat of the team right there is that offensive line and how it can work together.”
Speer also believes the offensive linemen will enjoy playing for Wire as well.
“I think some things that he’ll be able to bring in that will really help us is his ability to connect with kids and establish relationships, (which) I think is something we’ve missed in the last couple of years,” he said. “I’m really working where those guys feel like they have a home and their importance and just not just a football player. I think across-the-board, we could all do a better job of that and realizing these kids have a value and a home and a place to just connect and build those relationships off the field as well. I think it’s important and think (Wire) is going to be one who does a really great job at that.”
Overall, Speer remains enthusiastic and optimistic about the way the offensive room is shaping up with Fambrough, Wire and the other staff members and how they’re connecting with the Bulldogs.
“I’m excited about him coming,” he said. “Anytime you have somebody coming in and they’re already working, and they’re technically not under contract, that’s exciting. That shows they’re committed to the program already. Anybody can get here and show up and start working hard, but it’s just refreshing to see that, hey, they’re not even here yet, and they’re already putting in the work for next season. I think he’s going to be a great hire.”
