The Marble Falls Independent School District athletic department returned from its one week break July 6 and athletic director and football head coach Keri Timmerman announced several important dates happening in the next few weeks.
The first is the QBR Texas Tour camp at Marble Falls High School from 5-8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, July 16-17 for players in the fourth grade to the 12th grade. The camp is designed for quarterbacks and all skill positions. Sign up online here.
The others happen within a few days of one another.
Timmerman and his Marble Falls coaching staff will be conducting Mustang Football 2026 Camp for incoming Kindergarteners to ninth-graders from 6-8 p.m. July 27-30 at Mustang Stadium. Cost is $60. Scholarships are available.
The coach described what each group is taught based on their ages and ability.
“We do a younger kids camp, (Kindergarten) through (fifth grade),” he said. “So we do individual, we do group, we do team, and then we’ll work the same way through defense. The kids camp is going to be more of an everybody’s skill camp; we’re going to take everybody through a quarterback drill, everybody through a lineman drill, everybody through a running back drill, so we’re going to give everybody a chance to learn skills as a whole. They’re not going to spend their entire day working at offensive line because we don’t know where those kids are going to end up, and we want them to experience the fun of football.”
The seventh-, eighth- and ninth-graders participate in a camp that mirrors more of what they’ll experience at their own practices during the fall.
“Really it’s a fall camp precursor where they’re getting hands-on (knowledge) without any other varsity or (junior varsity) players around,” the coach said, “because when we get to Midnight Madness (the start of fall training camp), those freshmen are going to be running through a practice that’s just like our varsity and JV; it’s just a little bit mildly scaled down with terminology and things that we don’t introduce (until they’re) freshmen.”
Timmerman pointed out the importance of attending the camp, especially for the freshmen.
“It’s very much a big deal because they get a week with us, four days with us (without) the varsity and JV,” he said. “So it’s pretty important. We say it’s a mandatory camp, but I tell all the parents and everybody and encourage people to attend.”
That’s why scholarships are available, the coach added.
“Money shouldn’t be an issue,” he said. “We’ll scholarship you if we need to, but we need those kids there, because that’s our first chance to get them in position, to make sure that they’re in the right spots, so that we’re not wasting time with them when they get to the junior high on day one or to the high school on Midnight Madness.”
Families also can sign up the day of the camp at The Corral at Mustang Stadium at 5:30 p.m. Email Timmerman at KT********@************sd.org for more information.
High school football players can pick up equipment at the fieldhouse from 10 a.m.-noon July 28-30 all in anticipation of the start of fall training camp.
That kicks off with the third annual Midnight Madness the morning of Aug. 3. There is no admission and food and drinks will be available.
