Erin Sawyer is the new volleyball head coach at Faith Academy of Marble Falls. Sawyer spent the last couple of years as the top assistant coach on Adrienne Pabon’s staff. “Coach Sawyer has been coaching here for two years,” athletic director Zakk Revelle said. “We put her at the junior high because we knew how good she was.” Sawyer also coaches the Highland Lakes Aces, a club volleyball team, which demonstrates her ability to coach players of all ages and experiences. The Air-Time Elite girls basketball team finished as the runner-up at the Foreverland II tournament hosted by Premier Basketball June 17-18 in Mansfield. The team features four Burnet High School athletes: Sydney Lough, Sierra Schaefer, Kloe Shannon and Zaria Solis. Championships are won in the offseason. That was said by Pat Summit, the legendary University of Tennessee women’s basketball coach, right after the Lady Vols won one of their eight national titles. She commended her players for staying in Knoxville during the summer to work toward their championship. In many ways, that’s what’s happening with athletes at Marble Falls Independent School District. Burnet High School senior Kade Shaw had a great day at the ballpark playing for the Austin Wings 17-and-under summer select baseball team. On June 9, Shaw went hit three home runs in three plate appearances, and one was a grand slam. He did it against Up Top from Dallas during The Opener tournament.
