Selecting an all-district team is the challenge of head coaches throughout the state and softball coaches in District 24-4A were no different. That’s because of the play of numerous athletes in 2026.

Still the Marble Falls High School Lady Mustangs caught the attention of several opposing coaches.

Top of the list was Sophomore Callie Phillips, who is co-Defensive Player of the Year.

“Callie made it mostly as a catcher-pitcher, even though her pitching numbers aren’t the strikeouts,” head coach Alex Lozoya said. “Towards the back half of the district, the strikeout numbers started coming up a little higher. But it was her play defensively with the balls and play at pitcher the first half of district where she spent a lot of time at shortstop and then most of it was finishing at catcher. Callie got recognized for her efforts and defense for the season.”

First team all-district went to junior shortstop and catcher Jocelyn Suarez, who was solid at getting to pop-ups, line drives and other balls that came her way. She also was consistent at the plate.

“Because of the presence that Jocelyn had on the field offensively and defensively,” Lozoya said.

Second team honors went to freshman first baseman Adyson Floyd.

“Coaches remembered how Ady was clutch at moments, either getting a big single or a big base hit or sometimes even just a walk in a moment where a freshman more than likely would have swung,” Lozoya said. “So they felt that Ady did a good job.”

Honorable mention went to junior outfielder Khloe Hollingsworth and sophomore pitcher Brooklynn Damico.

“Khloe did a good job of being as consistent as she could in center field,” the coach said. “Offensively, she might have had a little drop-off from her junior year, but she made up for it, showing a lot of improvement defensively, and the coaches recognized that.”

Damico’s recognition came back to understanding the game.

“The coaches felt that Brooklyn gave us every opportunity to compete in games and did most of the pitching based on the team that we had put together,” Lozoya said. “And so they felt that she had the numbers except for the last two weeks of this season. The numbers didn’t match what was on the field because a lot of it was unearned.”

The Lady Mustangs also announced their program award recipients.

The varsity team awards went to Phillips as the most valuable player, Suarez as the offensive player of the year, Abigail Suarez as the defensive player of the year, Hollingsworth as the most improved player of the year, Damico received the Heart and Hustle award, and Floyd as the newcomer of the year.

The junior varsity’s most outstanding player is Sydney Belk, the offensive player of the year is Devyn Salazar, the defensive player of the year is Kaydee Smith, the most improved player of the year is Shaylea Alley, and Heart and Hustle award went to Maddison Fry.
